Another slow start to direct cash cattle trade activity on this Tuesday.  A few early asking prices have surfaced around $138 live in the South, while the North remains quiet.  Bids are non-existent.  It’s likely significant trade volume will be delayed until midweek or later. 

Boxed beef is weak at midday on light demand for solid offerings.  Choice is $.16 lower at $293.34 and Select is $.14 lower at $284.65.  The Choice/Select spread is $8.69. 

At the close, at the Oklahoma National Stockyards, compared to last week feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $5 lower.
