The head of the US Meat Export Federation says the recently announced partnership between the USDA and the Port of Oakland is a good first step to improve export logistics.
Dan Halstrom tells Brownfield the announcement should help move empty shipping containers quicker. “The Port of Oakland is a strategic port for US beef and pork exports,” he says. “Especially in our chilled cargo. A lot of our chilled cargo goes out of that port.”
He says it should also help improve trade logistics with trading partners in Asia.
