For Friday, a sprawling winter storm will continue to cause widespread travel disruptions from the Ohio Valley to New England. Additional snow should be heaviest in New England. The area at risk for the greatest ice accretion, locally one-half inch or more, will extend into southern and eastern Ohio. Meanwhile, locally severe thunderstorms across the South should end by early Friday. However, the storm system has also provided highly beneficial moisture for drought-stressed rangeland, pastures, and winter grains, particularly on the southern Plains.
