Another quiet start to the day for direct cash cattle trade activity. Bids have been elusive. There are some asking prices surfacing around $142 to $143 live in the South, while the North has been quiet. Look for significant trade volume to pick up as the week progresses.
Boxed beef is mixed at midday with light to moderate demand for light offerings. Choice is $.29 higher at $279.25 and Select is $.21 lower at $274.83. The Choice/Select spread is $4.42.
At the Tri-State Livestock Auction in Nebraska, compared to last week with the exception of 900-pound steers, which were $5 lower, steers were steady to $12 higher.
