A relatively quiet weather pattern will continue through the weekend, with little or no precipitation expected during the next 5 days in much of the southern and western U.S. In southern California, record-setting warmth will accompany the dry weather, with some locations exceeding 90°F. Farther north, however, a strong cold front will cross the Midwest on Friday before reaching the northern Atlantic Coast on Saturday. Wind-blown snow and rain showers will precede and accompany the front; downwind of the Great Lakes, snow squalls will occur in the front’s wake.
