A low-pressure system will reach the vicinity of Lake Superior Friday morning and pass north of New England on Saturday. A burst of snow, accompanied by gusty winds, could lead to some brief travel disruptions, especially in the eastern through lower Great Lakes region. Sharply colder air will trail the storm system, although sub-zero temperatures should be confined to the nation’s northern tier, from North Dakota to Maine. Precipitation (rain and snow) may fall during the weekend along the storm’s trailing cold front, primarily in the middle Atlantic States.
