A system dropping southward out of the West will deliver a brief but beneficial burst of precipitation across the Pacific Coast States, along with the return of near- or below-normal temperatures. Subsequently, the storm will turn northeastward, reaching the southern Plains late Wednesday, the lower Great Lakes region late Thursday, and northern New England early Friday. As the low-pressure system traverses the nation’s mid-section, precipitation will become heavier and more focused.
