Like the scenario that played out 2 weeks ago, a significant winter storm will gather moisture and interact with cold air while traversing the central and eastern U.S. The storm system, currently developing over the Intermountain West, will initially result in cooler conditions and generally light precipitation in the western U.S. By late Wednesday, however, a low-pressure system will intensify over the southern Plains, while a high-pressure system will arrive across the north-central U.S., resulting in deteriorating weather conditions.
