Direct cash cattle trade is off to a quiet start to the week. Showlists are mixed, higher in Texas, somewhat lower in Kansas, and lower in Nebraska/Colorado. Some early asking prices are at $144 to $145 live in the South, while the North has been quiet. It’s likely significant trade volume will be delayed until midweek or later. Deals last week were at $142, generally $2 higher than the previous week’s weighted averages. Northern dressed business was at mostly $226, about $2 higher than the prior week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.
