For the remainder of Wednesday, rain showers in the eastern U.S. will gradually end. Meanwhile, a storm emerging from the Southwest will produce locally heavy snow in the Four Corners States and wintry precipitation from the southern Plains into the mid-South.

On Thursday, storm impacts across the nation’s mid-section will reach peak intensity. For example, snow will blanket the central Plains and upper Midwest; sleet and freezing rain will extend from the mid-South to the mid-Atlantic; and heavy rain may cause additional flooding in the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys.
