Another quiet start to the day for direct cash cattle trade activity.  Bids have yet to surface, but asking prices are around $144 plus live in the South, while the North isn’t fully established.  While a little trade could develop yet today, it’s likely significant trade volume will be delayed until midweek or later. 

Boxed beef is lower with light demand for light offerings.  Choice is $.37 lower at $257.14 and Select is $1.39 lower at $252.02.  The Choice/Select spread is $5.12. 

At the Callaway Livestock Center in Missouri, compared to last week, there was a much lighter offering and test.
