A storm system emerging from the western U.S. will cross the southern half of the Plains early in the week before reaching the Great Lakes region by Wednesday. Subsequently, the system will weaken while moving into eastern Canada, although the storm’s trailing cold front will remain active for the remainder of the week across the eastern U.S. The slow-moving feature will result in a variety of hazards, including heavy rain, flash flooding, and severe thunderstorms in parts of the South, as well as accumulating snow across the central and southern Rockies and adjacent High Plains.
