President Biden’s budget for fiscal year 2023 includes more than $28 billion in discretionary funding for the USDA.  That is a $4.2 billion, or 17% increase from the 2021 enacted level.

The White House says resources provided through the 2023 budget complement investments made in conservation, forest management, and broadband deployment, which were provided in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says these are critical investments made in the American people.  And the President’s budget provides USDA with the tools needed to support a vibrant, revitalized, and prosperous rural America.

The budget proposes:

  • Significant investments in climate resilience and US agriculture’s ability to be part of the climate solution.
