Tuesday, a low-pressure system will emerge from the western U.S. and begin to cross the nation’s mid-section. The storm system should reach peak intensity early Thursday while crossing the Great Lakes region, before drifting northward into Canada. Along the storm’s trailing cold front, severe thunderstorms should develop by Tuesday evening across the central and southern Plains. At mid-week, the severe-weather threat will shift to the lower Mississippi Valley and environs.
