The USDA reports while soil moisture in Indiana decreased slightly from February to March, standing water in many fields prevented field work for most of the state this month.
Statewide precipitation was eight tenths of an inch above normal for an average of 3.62 inches with only 2% of the state’s topsoil in short supply. The statewide average temperature was also a few degrees above normal for March at an average 43.5 degrees.
