A storm system currently traversing the upper Midwest will move north of the Great Lakes region early Thursday. The risk of strong thunderstorms will persist through Thursday, although the primary severe-weather threat will shift from the Mississippi Delta to the middle and southern Atlantic States. In the storm’s wake, Midwestern snow showers will linger into Friday. Meanwhile rain showers will gradually end along the Atlantic Seaboard, except in Florida. In fact, showery weather may linger through the weekend in Florida, where 5-day rainfall totals could reach 1 to 3 inches or more.
