A low-pressure system over the Great Lakes region will gradually weaken and continue to drift northward, although the threat of severe thunderstorms will persist through Thursday in the middle and southern Atlantic States. Subsequently, a series of weak, disorganized disturbances will result in widespread cloudiness but generally light precipitation, mainly across the Rockies, Plains, Midwest, and mid-South. In contrast, mostly dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days from California to western and southern Texas.
