A southeast Iowa farmer says there’s a sense of optimism this spring.
Stan Nelson grows corn and soybeans near Danville.
“The current climate around here, or the attitude, is positive. We’ve got good prices (and) most of the fellas around here have got their inputs priced already (and) their fertilizer down.”
He tells Brownfield soil moisture levels are improving with recent rains.
“The tile lines are running (so) there’s a lot of optimism in the countryside.”
He says as soon as it dries up, farmers in his area will be prepping fields for planting and terminating cover crops.
