Winds will increase across the central and southern Plains, with gusts during Tuesday broadly reaching 50 to 60 mph or higher. Any grassfires sparked in the next couple days have the potential for explosive growth due to the windy weather, low humidity levels, and underlying drought. Farther north, however, a multi-day storm will unfold across the northern Plains. The storm will emerge from the western U.S. on Tuesday, slowly crossing Nebraska before stalling around mid-week over the upper Great Lakes region.
