Rain and snow will linger over the remainder of Tuesday in the Northeast, but the focus for significant weather will soon return to the western and central U.S. The first of two Pacific storms will move inland later Tuesday across southwestern Canada, reaching a position north of Lake Superior by Thursday morning. Impacts from that system will be mostly minor, although high winds will affect portions of the northern U.S. In addition, mid-week rainfall could total an inch or more in parts of the Mississippi Valley.
