The latest Crop Progress and Conditions reports from the USDA show planting progress is running well behind in the Delta.
David Blakemore is a cotton ginner located in the Bootheel of Missouri. “I have one grower that should have probably 3,000 acres of corn planted, that has 400 in the ground,” he says. “He’s typical of all of our growers. And the rice crop is behind.”
He tells Brownfield many farmers are waiting for a break in the weather.
