A storm system currently crossing the central Plains and upper Midwest will intensify over Friday and Saturday. As a result, another significant precipitation event will unfold across the north-central U.S., with 1 to 3 inches of rain possible across much of Nebraska and the Dakotas. Similar amounts, 1 to 2 inches or more, will also extend southward across the Plains into northern Texas, and eastward into portions of the Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee Valleys. Locally severe thunderstorms will accompany the rain.
