Nebraska farmers have more than 60 percent of their corn planted.

USDA’s latest crop report says with more than five days suitable for fieldwork, planting progress reached 62 percent.  This year’s pace trails the five-year average of 77 percent and is well behind last year’s 84 percent.

Corn emergence is 19 percent, behind 31 percent last year and 32 percent on average.

Soybean planting is 44 percent complete compared to 68 percent a year ago and 51 percent normally.
