Corn and soybean planting continues to trickle along in South Dakota.

The USDA says 31 percent of the state’s corn is planted, well behind 83 percent last year and 54 percent for the five-year average.

Only 15 percent of soybeans have been planted, running behind last year’s 61 percent and behind the 28 percent average.

Seventy-eight percent of the spring wheat crop is planted with 43 percent emerged. Only 23 percent of winter wheat is reported in good condition with 52 percent fair.
