For the remainder of Tuesday, a weak low-pressure system will continue to produce Southeastern showers. Meanwhile, a stronger system developing over the south-central U.S. will result in substantial drought relief across portions of the central and southern Plains. Heavy showers and locally severe thunderstorms will gradually shift eastward across the South, producing 5day rainfall totals of 2 to 6 inches from the east-central and southeastern Plains to the southern Appalachians.
