A dairy farmer in southeast Minnesota will harvest less hay this year because of a cool start to the growing season.
Deborah Mills of Lake City tells Brownfield they’re finishing the first cutting of alfalfa.
“We can do four, but because May was just such a stagnant growth month, we’re probably only going to go with three. But the first crop that we got had a lot of volume, so we’re really happy with it.”
She says the first crop benefited from adequate moisture.
