A pipeline of moisture, linked to the Southwestern monsoon circulation and enhanced by a frontal boundary draped across the Midwestern and middle Atlantic States, will support frequent showers and locally severe thunderstorms from the western Corn Belt to the middle and southern Atlantic Coast. Additional rainfall could total 1 to 3 inches or more from eastern Nebraska to the central and southern Appalachians, with higher amounts (3 to 5 inches) possible in the coastal Carolinas.
