The USDA says it’s expanding access to double cropping insurance to nearly 1,500 counties to help increase domestic and global food supplies.

Secretary Tom Vilsack says improvements to the program will help reduce the economic risk of raising two crops while avoiding potential shortages of wheat and other commodities caused by the war in Ukraine.

Farmers who plant soybeans after winter wheat will have expanded or streamlined coverage in 681 counties.
