Michigan’s crops endured a hot week with a little weekend rain relief. USDA statistician Marlo Johnson says rain events varied throughout the state but abnormally dry weather continued across the northwest and central lower peninsula in the week ending Sunday.
Johnson says there was good progress with the winter wheat harvest and corn began to tassle.
Fifty-two percent of Michigan’s corn is silking with 8% in the dough stage.
Seventy percent of the soybeans are now blooming with 32% setting pods.
