Direct cash cattle trade is off to a quiet start.  Buyers and sellers are busy taking inventory.  No bids or asking prices have been established and it is very likely significant trade volume will be delayed until midweek or later.  Deals in the South last week had a range of $134 to $137 live, mostly $135, about $1 lower than the prior week’s weighted averages.  Dressed deals in the North were at $222 to $230, mostly $225, about $2 below the previous week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.
