The value of U.S. farmland and buildings rose from 2021 to 2022, reflecting the recent gains in land prices in many prime agricultural areas.

The USDA says that value averaged $3,800 per acre, an increase of $420 on the year, based on a June survey of ag operations.

That average has now been steady to higher for six consecutive years and is $1,280 above the 2012 average.

Cropland in 2022 averaged $5,050 per acre, $630 higher, with pasture land at an average of $1,650 an acre, a gain of $170.
