The executive director of the South Dakota FFA Association says the National FFA Proficiency awards help FFA members develop specialized skills they can apply toward future careers
Gerri Eide tells Brownfield nationally there are 45 award areas, ranging from fruit production to beef and swine entrepreneurship. “The students have supervised agriculture experiences (SAEs) that revolve around those specific areas,” she said. “They track their records for a number of years. Through their application, they show how they have grown.”
She says three South Dakota FFA members have been named finalists this year.
