Farmers are firming up plans for fall fertilizer applications.

Nutrien senior agronomist Alan Blaylock says it’s important to consider how much yield was removed at harvest.

“That can be a factor in, for example applications of P & K, if we had a really good crop (and) removed a lot more we might want to look at replacing that. Or if we had a poor crop because of drought or whatever and didn’t remove as much, that can figure into our budget for the next year.”

For nitrogen, he tells Brownfield crop rotation and available credits come into play.
