Direct cash cattle trade activity is off to a quiet start this week. Bids and asking prices have yet to be established. It’s likely significant trade volume will be delayed until midweek or later. Business last week was delayed, but the wait was well worth it for producers. Live deals in the South had a range of $141 to $143, mostly $142, $2 higher than the prior week’s weighted averages. Northern dressed trade had a range of $230 to $238, mostly $234, $4 higher than the previous week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.
