Showers and thunderstorms will linger for the remainder of the week in parts of the South, with 5-day totals reaching 2 to 4 inches or more from the lower Mississippi Valley to Florida. Much of the remainder of the country will receive little or no rain, with scattered, 1- to 2-inch totals limited to the Four Corner States and the nation’s northern tier, from Montana to New England. Completely dry weather should prevail during the next 5 days across the Far West and from the southern Plains into the Ohio Valley.
