Completely dry weather—accompanied by late-season heat—will prevail during the next 5 days from the Pacific Coast to the northern half of the Plains. Temperatures may briefly reach 100°F as far north as the northern High Plains. Farther east, drier air will also overspread the upper Midwest, following recent rains. Meanwhile, showers in the vicinity of a cold front will begin the week stretching from the lower Great Lakes region to the southern Plains. Showers and thunderstorms will progress eastward, clearing the middle and northern Atlantic States by the middle of the week.
