Dry weather will prevail across much of the country through Labor Day weekend, with significant rain (locally 1 to 3 inches) confined to the Deep South. Higher rainfall totals may occur across southern Texas, including the lower Rio Grande Valley and areas along the Gulf Coast. Farther north, late-week showers will be limited to the Midwest and Northeast, associated with the passage of a weak cold front. Completely dry weather should prevail during the next 5 days from the Pacific Coast to the northern and central Plains.
