A Central Nebraska farmer says there’s no hope for his dryland corn crop.

Clay Govier farms near Broken Bow. “Harvest will start early this year because of dry conditions and because of crops dying prematurely.”

The USDA says corn condition is 39 percent good-to-excellent with 76 percent of the crop dented.

He tells Brownfield soybeans are a few weeks behind schedule. “They haven’t started turning yellow around here yet, but I imagine that in the next couple of weeks, we’ll start seeing some color change.
