There’s concern fall cover crops will struggle because of drought.
Carl Bruice with Wilbur-Ellis Company says cover crops require water and inputs.
“If we’re in a drought situation, cover crops probably aren’t going to perform well. And I look out west where we’re pushing cover crops, but we don’t have any water. So there’s a multitude of factors going into making that decision whether cover cropping is right for your individual farm.”
He tells Brownfield those factors include environment, soil type, and grower practices.
