Direct cash cattle trade activity is off to a typically quiet start to the week.  Bids and asking prices have yet to be established as both sides are busy taking inventory.  It’s likely significant trade volume will be delayed until Midweek or later.  Last week, Southern live deals were marked at $140 to mostly $142, generally $1 higher than the prior week’s weighted averages.  Dressed business in the North had a wide range from $222 to $230, mostly $226 to $227, which was steady to $1 higher than the previous week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.
