Mostly dry albeit chilly weather will prevail across the nation’s southeastern quadrant, facilitating hurricane recovery efforts in Florida, the drying of open-boll cotton in the Carolinas and Virginia, as well as summer crop maturation and harvesting from the lower Corn Belt to the Gulf Coast.  However, clouds and showers associated in part with the remnants of Hurricane Ian will linger for one more day across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.  Meanwhile, a strong but mostly dry cold front will usher sharply colder air into the Midwest Thursday into Friday before sweeping through the East Coast states for the weekend.
