The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is continuing to report detections of highly pathogenic avian influenza this fall.

A 25-bird backyard chicken flock in Genesee County has tested positive for the virus, the first case this year in the county. 

Officials are reminding bird owners to remain vigilant in their biosecurity efforts as wild birds migrate south.
