Another quiet start for direct cash cattle trade activity.  Bids have been slow to surface.  Asking prices are at $147 to $148 live in the South, while the North has yet to be established.  It’s likely significant trade volume will be delayed until midweek or later. 

Boxed beef is higher at midday on strong demand for solid offerings.  Choice is $3.86 higher at $252 and Select is $1.38 higher at $220.99.  The Choice/Select spread is $31.01. 

At the Callaway Livestock Center in Missouri, compared to last week there was a much lighter test and offering of steer and heifer calves.
