Machinery costs continue to increase, and an equipment expert says farmers could benefit from retrofitting their current planter.

Joe Rollin Ohio-based regional manager with Precision Planting tells Brownfield when a farmer is unhappy with the performance of their planter, buying a new one is the easy way out but, “We can actually retrofit a planter a lot of times cheaper than what a customer can buy a very basic new planter for. In fact, when looking at buying a new planter most of the cost is spent on the same technology that is already on the planter you currently have.”

He says adding new technologies to your current planter can help improve efficiency in the field.
