A storm system crossing the western U.S. will reach the nation’s mid-section late in the week. A second storm will closely follow the first, arriving in the Northwest by Friday. During the weekend, the initial system will traverse the Great Lakes region and move across eastern Canada, while the trailing storm will move eastward near the U.S.-Canadian border. By early next week, yet another Pacific storm system will arrive along the West Coast. Five-day precipitation totals could reach 1 to 3 inches from the western half of the Gulf Coast region into the Great Lakes States.
