Tropical Storm Nicole should reach Florida’s east coast late Wednesday or Thursday, possibly achieving hurricane intensity prior to landfall. Rainfall associated with Nicole could cause renewed flooding along the St. Johns River, where minor to moderate flooding lingers more than a month after Hurricane Ian’s strike. Additional hazards related to Nicole’s upcoming strike on Florida may include heavy surf, a dangerous storm surge, and beach erosion. Storm-related concerns, including possible flooding and coastal impacts, may spread northward along the Atlantic Seaboard late in the week.
