Asking prices are firm at $156 to $157 live in the South, while the North has been quiet.  It’ll be interesting to see how business develops as many will want to wrap up business ahead of the severe winter weather and bitterly cold temperatures throughout much of the country.  Today’s Fed Cattle Exchange had an offering of 992 head, none of which sold as bids did not meet reserve prices of $156 and $157. 

Boxed beef is mixed at midday on light to moderate demand for light offerings.  Choice is $.12 lower at $264.93 and Select is $2.21 higher at $236.11.  The Choice/Select spread is $28.82. 

At the Kingsville Livestock Auction in Missouri, compared to last week, there was a much lighter offering of feeder steers, which were steady to $4 lower.
