Direct cash cattle trade is quiet and cash hogs are mixed. A few scattered bids are on the table in parts of Kansas, but the rest of cattle country remains quiet. Packer inquiry should improve as the day progresses. Asking prices are around $158 to $159 in the South, but still not established in the North.
Boxed beef is mixed at midday with Choice down .33 at $282.56. Select is $1.42 higher at $257.82. The Choice/Select spread is $24.74.
