Direct cash cattle trade is off to a quiet start following yesterday’s light trade. Southern live deals were at mostly $157, fully steady with last week’s weighted averages, Northern dressed business was at mostly $252, roughly $.50 higher than last week’s weighted averages basis in Nebraska. Asking prices for cattle left on showlists are around $158-plus in the South, and $254-plus in the North.
Boxed beef cutouts are higher. Choice is up $1.60 at $283.23 and Select is $3.45 sharply higher at $260.40. The Choice/Select spread is $22.83.
