Direct cash cattle business is off to its typically quiet start as buyers and sellers are busy taking inventory and establishing showlists. Bids and asking prices have yet to surface. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until midweek or later. The bulk of last week’s business took place on Thursday and Friday with Northern dressed deals ranging from $248 to $255, mostly $252, about $.50 higher than the prior week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.
